Life lessons are so hard on kids.......and big kids too.

On July 12th the inhabitants of Casa de Cuckoo minus Sweet Man had a Donkey Delicious Day.

There were so many pictures taken that day. Happy new experience moments captured. Little did any of us know that the Fergus, the donkey who was the most enthusiastic, loving and scratchable would be gone within this short period of time.
A couple of weeks ago, Shelley and GK had gone back down to MBF so GK could watch R train Big Red (Ellsworth). They came home with a donkey hickey, stories of them being made the bologna in the donkey sandwich between Fergus and Bernard and that was the reality and enjoyment of the day.
The reality today is that Fergus died this morning of unknown causes. GK, Shelley and I have cried a good cry for Don and Justina who are such sweet and kind animal lovers. And now we are just sad for the loss of the spirit of friendship and fun that Fergus had gifted upon us.
Fergus you will be missed by so many.

  2. Donkeys are such delightful creatures. Poor Fergus, gone too soon. I'm sure he's in donkey heaven now and having a great old time.

  4. I'm awfully sorry. I hope he didn't suffer, glad you got to visit him one last time. At least he was in a good place, and maybe this means another needy donkey will be able to move into that sweet home.

    Still, it is very sorrowful.

  8. Thank all of you for your comments. I just want to say, my reason for the posting was to honor the memory of an animal friend. We were fans of Fergus and were priviledged to have passed moments in time with his gentle spirit. I feel so bad for his humans and for the donkey boys that were his family. In reading the comments at MBF there was a quote that I want to give to you and now I'll pass along to my grands....–”Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” Dr. Suess.
    XOXO Oma Linda

  9. I'm saddened to hear about Fergus. It's always sad when we loose a friend whether the friend is human or animal. Some of my saddest losses were of the animal varity.

  10. I'm so sorry to read about Fergus' demise. I know how much he was loved. I love donkeys and elephants...had 2 imaginary friends when I was a kid, one was a donkey I called Jogie and an elephant I named Randall. Used to scare the hell out of my brother, Fred!! I did a lot of that to him when we were kids!! LOL

Again, my condolences. However, I do believe animals go to heaven, so Fergus and all your other wonderful pets will be waiting anxiously at that moment you open that bright and lovely door.

    Loves ya,
    G
