We had to let go..........

This afternoon, the three generations of Cuckoo woman went down to the vet's office to let Cybella free from the pain that she has been in. The prognosis was slim and racing to none. It had to be done.

I am in awe of the love and gentleness of the wonderful staff and Dr. Moyer at De Anza Animal Clinic. They cried, we cried, and we shared one of the worst/best moments in time.

GK is devastated. All the Cuckoos are sad. And yes, it is part of life but we just went through this in November with Odin and are in a holding pattern with my 15 year old cat Sunny Bunny. Enough right now is enough.

Thank you for your love, support and comments.

  1. Oh honey, my heart goes out to your beautiful family. I am so sorry to hear of this terrible loss. Though Cybella has crossed to Summerland, I know her spirit will live forever within GK's beautiful heart, imprinted now and always in feline love and mystique. My candle will burn brightly this evening. Sending my love, Mina

  2. oh, my heart goes out to you and yours. Such a terrible loss. I stand in a holding pattern with Miss Minga. She was 21 this month. I prefer living in denial at this point. I don't know if I have ever mentioned to you, but participating in the Monday candle ceremony might be helpful for you and the family. It is beautiful with so people around the world participating. I found it very healing. (((Hugs)))

  3. Oh, my. My heart does out to each and every one of you.

  4. Hugs to everyone. Such a sad day. Cybella was a lucky cat to have you all for her peeps.

  5. I'm sure you made the right decision, hard as it was. So very sorry, I hope you all are finding comfort in knowing Cybella is out of pain now.
In case you might find comfort from others words, here is a blog post I have been slowly reading:
It isn't only about dogs but pets in general.

  6. It is always so hard to part with such devoted companions <3 XXX

  7. I am so sorry. What a hard lesson for a youngster to have to learn. Letting go and making the hardest of all decisions.
My heart goes out to you both.

  8. This has to be life's most difficult decision. Even though made with love, to keep her from further pain, your mind tries to question did we wait too long, did we act too soon.
None of us can answer thoe questions. Know that she knows you acted with love and is waiting to greet you again sometime in the future. There will be purrs and head rubs and nothing to forgive.
Our time together is always too short.

  9. It' never gets easy to say goodbye and we keep giving our hearts to these fur babies knowing their life span is so short, but to give them the gift of peace is a beautiful thing. Grieving is hard work, give yourself time. Hugs.

  10. Here is a long hard hug to you.
I have had many pet friends that I have had to let go. I can tell you I once waited what I know now was just a little too long because I couldn't bear the loss. Its far better to let go when the time is right and be guiltless because you know it is time.
    xx, Carol

  11. I wish I could have been there to make a pot of tea and some cookies!!!!!!! Loving hugs and gentle prayers. Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
