Part One "The Sorceress of Spiders"

Back in the mysterious and isolated country of Webackia,a new Sorceress of Spiders was born and then mysteriously taken away from her homeland of Webackia and placed with a Webakian family in Haiti. The baby never knew her birth parents.

She had no idea of her situation until her Aunt Geomi paid a visit to the little girl. Geomi explained that the little Sorceress would, for the rest of her life, dedicate her whole existence to the care of the Royal Spider. Now this child was not a follower but rather a leader and took her Aunt’s words as a challenge. She would of course be the most wonderful Sorceress of Spiders the royal house of Webackia had ever known. She was then presented with her charge and vowed to her aged predecessor that she would do her very best.

The Princess/Sorceress and the Spider became the best of friends. As a matter of fact the twosome became so close the others around them began to worry because they only communicated to one another in Spider talk or in the written language of the spiders. Years past, the two became inseparable.

Then one dark and stormy night, a rustling was heard in the upstairs bedchamber. A scream was heard and then a thud as though a body had fallen to the floor. When the adults rushed in to see what was happening, they saw that the Royal Spider's cage lay open and the door was ajar. The Princess/Sorceress was in a heap on the floor and blood gushed from a head wound.

What had happened to Spinella Mokkara and who had dared to harm Majisyen Nan Robo?

When she recovered from her injuries, Majisyen scoured the island to no avail, the spider was gone. Investigation led her to the conclusion that someone had kidnapped the spider and set sail. The Princess/Sorceress hired a ship and was determined to track down the perpetrators of this wrong doing.

The dutiful and obedient cabin boy Grumete Scheepsjongen

The Sorceress of Spiders, the beautiful and humble (not) Majisyen Nan Robo/Zauberin von Spinnen

These dear souls have been following the signs of spiders now for 5 months, the Princess/Soceress and the cabin boy, Grumete Scheepsjogen who has been her constant companion on their voyage. Grumete had an excellent apprenticeship with the Captain and was a fine cabin boy. And because he was a local boy from the same village as Majisyen, and she has known him her whole life, she vowed to purchase his apprenticeship papers at the end of the voyage and set him free.

The Clipper Mang Moom

They traveled first on the Clipper ship out of Haiti named the Mang Moom and then across the dry countryside on foot in search of her charge, pet and royal duty that has eluded them except for the cryptic message left with the concierge at the hotel in Wharfton.

Tune in tomorrow when our intrepid travelers reach the shore and forge onward towards the rescue of Spinella Makkara.
